Dell Scholars 2027: check the Texas-only eligibility before applying

By Meritously · Published · 3 min read

For the 2027 cycle, Dell Scholars lists a Texas-specific route. Do not assume an older nationwide description establishes eligibility. Check both your high school and your intended college, then verify the college-readiness program requirement with your school.

This opportunity combines funding with sustained college support. It is most useful to evaluate as a completion program, rather than only as another scholarship amount.

Five requirements to check together

The current student page requires a senior graduating from a Texas high school, participation in an approved readiness program in grades 11 and 12, a plan for an accredited four-year public Texas college, Pell Grant eligibility and at least a 2.4 GPA. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection. Check the separate approved-program list rather than assuming any advising program qualifies.

On a smaller screen, scroll the table sideways to see every column.

Keep spring follow-up on the calendar

The deadline is January 12, 2027. Finalists are announced January 21, finalist materials are due March 31, and the college-choice and award-letter deadline is May 6. The provider lists a $20,000 flexible scholarship, a laptop, book support and other services; $20,000 is not described as an annual payment. Finalist review includes a transcript and FAFSA Submission Summary.

Do not let one possible award choose your college

Compare at least two versions of your college plan: costs with only confirmed grants, and costs if selected for Dell. If an eligible public college already fits your academic goals and affordable baseline, the additional support can be valuable. Changing to a poor academic fit solely for a competitive award creates unnecessary risk.

In a comparison sheet, separate tuition and fees, housing, transport and books. Then list the help you would use, such as academic advising or career planning. A laptop is useful, but it should not be counted both as a cash award and as a second reduction in the same expense.

Write down one likely transition problem and the kind of support that would help. Examples include understanding a degree plan, finding paid experience, or coordinating work and classes. This makes the program’s advising value concrete without pretending it guarantees graduation or employment.

Confirm your route with the program adviser

Ask the person who runs your readiness program to verify your participation dates and the program name used in the application. Assemble that record before polishing short answers. If your school or intended college does not meet the published rules, redirect the time to suitable outside awards.

Eligibility and dates were checked October 29, 2026. This guide describes the published 2027 cycle; earlier recipient stories do not override its current geographic requirements.
