Live Más Scholarship 2027: video or essay, eligibility and renewal

By Meritously · Published · 3 min read

Live Más lets you choose a video or written response for the 2027 application. Choose the format that helps you communicate your own experience clearly; a video is not automatically stronger than an essay. This is a competitive selection, not a reward for submitting a polished production.

Who should investigate the current application

The 2027 application portal lists January 5, 2027, 5 p.m. Pacific as the deadline. It covers eligible students ages 16-26 pursuing accredited college, trade, vocational or technical education, including employees and non-employees. The stated route does not require GPA, test scores or recommendations. Financial need is considered; read the full residence and other eligibility conditions before applying.

The current terms specify U.S./D.C. legal-residence and location rules, with a dependent active-duty-military exception, and parental permission for minors. First-time applicants and returning scholars use different programs.

The format limits come from the 2027 terms. The choice guidance is editorial judgment, not a claim about scoring advantages.

Before choosing, jot down the actual event you want to discuss, what you did and what you learned. Then try explaining it aloud and outlining it on paper. Choose the method in which you can be precise without spending most of your effort on technical presentation. Do not purchase equipment just to imitate a prior winner’s production style.

Keep the experiences and judgment yours

The 2027 terms allow limited AI assistance for organization, clarity or grammar, require accurate disclosure, and prohibit generated or substantially outsourced authorship and invented experiences. Read the full policy; older summaries of the program may describe different rules.

Preserve your own drafts and notes. If a revision introduces an impressive claim that you cannot explain or substantiate, remove it. The strongest useful editing question is whether the reader understands what happened, not whether every sentence sounds grand.

Keep future ambitions distinct from completed work. A plan to launch a project can be described as a plan; it should not become a claimed outcome just because an application asks about impact.

Use the award without assuming a recurring amount

The current terms list $5,000, $10,000 and $25,000 awards for eligible education expenses. Renewal requires reapplication and can change in amount; it is not automatic.

For a financial plan, record an awarded amount separately from possible renewals. If your course includes unusual supplies or equipment, confirm whether they fit the permitted-expense rules before purchasing. Ask the college how an outside award will interact with its own assistance.

Follow the official program page to the appropriate application and use the deadline tracker for your own submission target. Sources checked October 29, 2026.
