Tulane full-tuition scholarships: what changed about the extra application
Tulane no longer requires a separate application for full-tuition merit scholarship consideration, beginning with the high-school class of 2026. An older checklist telling every applicant to complete a separate Dean's Honor application does not describe the current process.
That change does not make the Common Application the only possible task. Financial-aid forms, requested documents and particular programs' additional requirements still matter.
Separate general review from special requirements
On a smaller screen, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Route | Current application distinction |
|---|---|
| Partial tuition merit | Considered through admission application |
| Full-tuition academic merit | No separate general scholarship application; follow the financial-form instructions |
| Stamps | Later invited supplement and finalist interview stages |
| Community Service Fellowship and some other awards | Additional materials can still be required |
Tulane's dedicated merit page explains the change and expects applicable FAFSA and CSS Profile submission for maximum merit consideration. International applicants should follow the stated finance-document instructions for their category. Confirm any exemption or uncertainty directly rather than assuming a form is unnecessary because an award is called merit-based.
Test optional and preferred credentials are different statements
The fall 2027 testing policy keeps SAT/ACT optional for ordinary first-year admission but describes testing, including listed school-leaving or advanced exams, as a preferred credential for academic merit review. It separately requires SAT/ACT for Pathways to Medicine and excludes testing from need-based, artistic, athletic and service-related award decisions.
Read the rule for the opportunity you actually want. An optional admission test is not a promise that every scholarship evaluates evidence identically. Equally, preferred does not mean an automatic award follows a particular score. Report genuine results as instructed and let the university perform any permitted score calculation.
Use the calendar for your admission plan
The current deadline page lists November 1 for Early Decision, November 10 for Early Action and January 15 for Early Decision II and Regular Decision. Financial-aid dates vary by plan. Match those recurring dates to your entry year and portal instructions.
Do not borrow a separate scholarship deadline from a previous applicant's experience. Build one checklist for admission and another for financial documents or an invited supplement. Choosing a binding plan is a separate commitment; completing scholarship-related work early does not require choosing Early Decision.
An optional supplement should add evidence
Tulane allows optional supporting work in the Green Wave Portal and limits video or audio submissions to three minutes. A useful supplement reveals something meaningful that the existing application cannot show as well: a completed piece, a documented project or a focused explanation of your own contribution.
Avoid repeating a résumé in another format merely because an upload field exists. Before committing to a time-consuming project, compare its likely value with finishing required work carefully. Full tuition also leaves costs beyond tuition, while Stamps has broader stated coverage. Sources checked October 29, 2026; compare the actual award and renewal terms using the offer guide.
