How to apply
Submit the separate Robertson application and apply to Duke and/or UNC in the same year. No nomination and no scholarship transcript submission. Applicants who have taken SAT or ACT must report scores. The recommendation FAQ requires exactly one leadership-focused letter submitted by the recommender, but a deadline sentence still says both letters; confirm the portal’s requirement. Selected applicants complete a group activity and semifinalist/finalist interviews.
What you'll need
  • A separate scholarship application
  • Recommendations
  • An interview
Who can apply
First-year undergraduate applicants who have not matriculated at another university; transfer and graduate applicants are ineligible. All citizenships and nationalities may apply; international applicants must be able to obtain a U.S. study visa. No preferred state of residence or required major. A gap-year student already admitted to Duke or UNC must wait until matriculation to apply through the current-student route.
Good to know
Scholars matriculate at one university, take at least five courses at the sister institution, and participate in campus switch, retreats, community events, and Community Summer. Admission to either university is required to receive its award; school-specific finalist invitations apply. Applying ED elsewhere is allowed, but notify Robertson if admitted under a binding commitment.
