NYU Scholarship
Merit + needCollege program
Financial need is part of how this award is decided, alongside merit.
- Award
- University scholarship guidance describes awards based on academic achievement and, in most cases, demonstrated need. No single NYU Scholarship amount, duration, or universal renewal rule is established; merit-only awards are few.

For institutional scholarship consideration submit CSS Profile, including required parent profiles or an approved waiver, by the aid deadline; eligible U.S. applicants also use FAFSA for federal aid. Submit required program audition/portfolio, English-proficiency evidence, and requested verification documents as applicable.

- Who can apply
- First-time first-year applicants; scholarship selection and financial-aid rules vary by school/campus and award. U.S. and international first-year applicants use the appropriate aid pathway. Current general aid page excludes ordinary transfer/second-degree applicants from NYU scholarship funding; SPS DAUS has a separate process.
- Good to know
- This record describes a scholarship family, not a single verified merit-only award. Most scholarships renew automatically, with exceptions communicated by the aid office; the amount/conditions are award-specific. New York-campus NYU Promise is need-based and does not establish a merit award value. Campus and school aid rules must be checked individually.
