- Award
- Full tuition waiver (up to 16 credit hours per semester for four years), a $500 per semester book allowance, up to $5,000 for approved study abroad, plus priority registration and special seminars.
- Deadline
- For fall 2027: early review November 1, 2026 or regular review December 1, 2026, by 11:59 PM Central Standard Time. All transcripts and test scores are due by the chosen deadline. Early review requires accepting the fellowship if selected.
- How to apply
- Apply to MTSU, create a PipelineMT account, then complete the Buchanan Fellowship application. Send high school and any dual enrollment transcripts to Admissions and the Honors College through the permitted upload, counselor portal or mail routes; Honors does not accept emailed transcripts. Resume is optional; recommendation letters are not considered.

- Who can apply
- Minimum ACT of 30 or SAT of 1360 and a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. Limited to 20 students per year.
- Good to know
- Choosing early review requires committing to MTSU in December if offered the fellowship. Fellows must maintain a cumulative 3.25 GPA and complete Buchanan courses, Honors requirements and a thesis.
