Invitation to Idaho and WUE Scholars awards
UnconfirmedCollege program
This is a real program, but some details for the current cycle are not published or not yet confirmed. Check the official source before you plan around it.
- Award
- Current University of Idaho page describes tuition discounts rather than cash: WUE reduces the nonresident tuition rate for eligible western-state students, with current additional WUE Scholars tiers of $1,000, $2,000 or $3,000. Invitation to Idaho waives a substantial portion of nonresident tuition for eligible students from other states or abroad. The page estimates nearly $16,000 yearly savings, but does not confirm the fall 2027 dollar value.
- Deadline
- No separate application or deadline listed.
- How to apply
- Automatic with admission to U of I.
- What you'll need
- No separate application: you are considered when you apply for admission
- Who can apply
- Invitation to Idaho: new first-year or first-time transfer students from non-WUE states or international locations, with incoming GPA at least 3.0 and 12-18 credits per semester. WUE: residents of participating western states, Guam or the Northern Mariana Islands; the basic discount does not require a 3.0 incoming GPA, but the additional Scholars awards do.
- Good to know
- WUE is a reduced tuition charge, not a separate payment. The current cost-of-attendance page quantifies the WUE discount using 2026-27 rates ($15,762); fall 2027 rates and Scholars add-ons are not labeled for that cycle. Invitation to Idaho and WUE cannot combine. Renewal currently requires 2.5 U of I GPA and continuous full-time enrollment.
