ListedCollege program
Award
Border State Scholarship lowers tuition to the Kentucky resident rate for first-time freshmen from IL, IN, MO, OH, TN, VA and WV. The separate Tuition Incentive Program Scholarship lowers tuition to the TIP rate for eligible non-residents from other states; the dollar amount varies. Both awards can renew for up to eight full-time semesters or the first degree.
Deadline
Complete the admission package, including official admission and high-school transcript, by December 31, 2026.
How to apply
Automatic from the admission application.
What you'll need
  • No separate application: you are considered when you apply for admission
Who can apply
Full-time first-time freshmen with at least 12 WKU credits. Border State requires residency in one of the seven eligible states. The separate TIP scholarship requires non-resident status outside those states and receipt of a university scholarship.
Good to know
Border State and TIP cannot combine with each other or the WKU Family Scholarship. Other eligible university awards can stack up to cost of attendance. These awards do not apply to military, distance-learning or other discounted rates. Renew with at least 2.5 cumulative GPA at the end of spring and full-time enrollment. Awards depend on timely application and available funds.
