- Who can apply
- National Merit Finalists naming the University of South Carolina first choice. University general-merit scholarships serve first-time first-year freshmen, including lawfully present nonresidents when funds are available. NMSC citizenship requirements apply to entrants attending high school outside the U.S.; individual award rules still apply.
- Good to know
- The $6,000 annual amount includes a $500 NMSC-sponsored component when applicable. May combine with other university merit. Renewal requires 3.0 cumulative USC system GPA and full-time Columbia enrollment (12 undergraduate credits), normally eight terms. Recipients below 3.0 may continue receiving at least $500 annually. Total general-university awards are capped at resident on-campus cost of attendance.
