Thurgood Marshall Scholarship
Merit + needCollege program
Financial need is part of how this award is decided, alongside merit.
- Award
- Up to $6,000 annually toward mandatory fall and spring tuition, renewable for eight semesters for first-year students. Amounts depend on demonstrated need and may change each year; spring entrants receive half the annual award.
- Deadline
- Complete the admission application by November 1, 2026 (EA/ED I) or January 15, 2027 (ED II/RD). Submit FAFSA by the annually published March 2 recommended financial-aid deadline for renewal; no separate scholarship application deadline is published.
- How to apply
- Submit the Common Application and Panther Profile, official high school transcript, Common App school report and one teacher recommendation. Creative-talent majors require the applicable Creative Supplement. SAT/ACT scores are optional. No separate merit application; awards are included with admission. FAFSA is required to establish and renew financial need.
- What you'll need
- No separate application: you are considered when you apply for admission
- Required financial-aid forms (check the program's rules)
- Who can apply
- Select first-generation students with exceptional academic performance, outstanding community leadership and demonstrated financial need.
- Good to know
- Renewal requires full-time enrollment of at least 12 credits, a 2.00 cumulative GPA and annual FAFSA by the recommended March 2 deadline. Funding is for the first bachelor's degree and excludes summer and housing. Transfers receive eight semesters minus prior full-time equivalent terms; APEx follows a shorter schedule.
