Award
Full fall/spring tuition, plus a $5,000 stipend for research support, professional travel, materials and supplies. Stipend payment frequency is not specified. Tuition scholarship renewable up to eight semesters with full-time enrollment, annual SAP review and at least 3.0 cumulative college GPA; SAP also requires 75% cumulative attempted-credit completion including accepted transfer credits. Other Trinity institutional grants/scholarships and summer tuition funding are excluded; aid ends on earlier degree completion.
Deadline
Apply for Trinity admission through the standing November 1 Early Decision I/Early Action deadline, then submit the separate Semmes application by November 8, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. CST for the entering Class of 2031. Invited finalists interview on campus February 6, 2027.
How to apply
Submit Trinity admission through Common Application, ApplyTexas or Coalition/SCOIR with personal essay, high-school transcript, teacher evaluation and secondary-school report/counselor recommendation. SAT/ACT are optional. International applicants follow their required school-record, English-proficiency and portal financial-declaration instructions. After submitting admission and receiving applicant-portal credentials, complete the separate Semmes form. Provide three short essays of no more than 250 words each on Trinity STEM study, research in college and postdegree plans; select up to three fields; answer the research/internship/lab-experience or motivating-experience question. Add a 250-500-word essay explaining how complex numbers solve a specific relevant scientific/technical problem and how it was handled previously. Upload an expanded résumé of no more than two pages covering academics, activities and STEM experiences. Invited finalists attend the campus interview.

Who can apply
Entering first-year undergraduates planning biology, biochemistry, biochemistry and molecular biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering science, geosciences, mathematics, neuroscience, physics and astronomy, or psychology. Transfer, continuing and graduate students excluded. Academic selection uses official transcript, unweighted core GPA and rigor; SAT/ACT optional and no numerical initial GPA minimum published. Admission must use ED I or EA; recipients selected independently of income.
Good to know
Two or three incoming first-year finalists receive this award. The official public question preview supplies the exact 2026 deadline, required responses and two-page résumé limit. The submission form requires applicant login; review used the university-linked public preview without sign-in or submission. The $5,000 stipend is not described as an annual payment. A one-time SAP appeal is available under university policy by August 1.
