Auburn merit scholarships for 2027: early action is the financial-aid deadline to watch

By Meritously · Published · 3 min read

Auburn's fall 2027 regular admission deadline is later than its final early-action deadline for merit consideration. If scholarship funding matters to your decision, plan around the earlier complete-file date, not the last day the university accepts applications.

Auburn automatically considers qualifying applicants for competitive merit scholarships. The word automatic describes consideration; its chart explicitly does not guarantee a future award.

These dates come from Auburn's freshman admission calendar. The university also has earlier early-action rounds; a student ready earlier can use the applicable round rather than waiting for December.

Read the merit chart as a competitive guide

The first-year financial-aid page bases automatic competitive review on high school GPA and ACT/SAT superscore. Its selected nonresident fall 2027 examples at a minimum 3.5 GPA include estimated annual awards of $7,000 for ACT 29-30 and $17,000 for ACT 35-36; equivalent SAT guidance is linked there. Awards depend on the pool and funding.

Do not use those examples as an admissions prediction or a personal scholarship offer. A chart can be informative without functioning as a guaranteed price list. Keep a budget with the award still pending until the university documents the amount.

AUSOM serves another purpose

Auburn's page distinguishes competitive merit review, which does not need a scholarship application, from institutional opportunities in AUSOM. Check the current AUSOM and FAFSA dates for departmental and need-based consideration instead of assuming the admission application covers everything.

Create two tracker entries: one for the admission-and-score file and one for the additional scholarship process. If the portal shows a missing transcript, solve that first. Then complete the extra questions with evidence about your interests, work and activities rather than repeating only GPA and scores already in the record.

Check the rules for keeping the offer

The financial-aid page states competitive merit renewal for up to eight semesters requires a cumulative unadjusted 3.0 Auburn GPA and 24 earned Auburn credits each academic year. Include those rules when comparing a competing offer, especially if you anticipate co-op, study abroad or a reduced course load.
