Ole Miss scholarships for 2027: automatic merit and the January application are separate
Ole Miss has an admission-based academic merit route and a separate Freshman Scholarship Application due January 10, 2027. Completing one does not mean you have completed every scholarship process.
There is also a cycle mismatch to watch: the nonresident academic-merit amount chart checked on October 29 is still labeled 2026-27. Do not treat its figures as a confirmed fall 2027 offer.
Separate the applications and the evidence
On a smaller screen, scroll the table sideways to see every column.
| Route | How it starts | Current-cycle caution |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic academic merit | Admission and qualifying academic records | Await the applicable 2027 award terms and amount |
| Freshman Scholarship Application | Separate scholarship application | January 10, 2027 deadline |
| Competitive Academic Programs | Separate CAPApp process | January 10, 2027 listed deadline; program instructions also matter |
The admitted-student page identifies the two January 10 applications. The 2027-28 financial-aid timeline says academic merit and other noncompetitive awarding begins in November and continues through July. An awarding window is not the same thing as a universal application deadline.
Use an old chart to frame questions, not promise a price
The nonresident merit page describes a fee-specific award toward the nonresident charge, with superscoring and renewal conditions. Its displayed amount grid is for 2026-27 and says it does not stack with Academic Success NR.
For a fall 2027 budget, record the amount as unconfirmed until the university publishes or offers applicable terms. Ask whether your award reduces the nonresident fee only and whether another tuition benefit replaces it. A previous class's maximum is useful context, but it is not money that can be counted in your own financial plan.
Program applications can carry additional work
The Honors College instructions list a November 1, 2026 early-action date and January 10, 2027 final date. The Honors application also supplies consideration for its competitive scholarships, with January 10 required for that review.
Read the program's current essays and recommendation instructions before deciding how much time to reserve. Admission to a selective academic program and receipt of its scholarship are different outcomes. Choose a program because its academic work fits your interests, and keep its possible funding separate until awarded.
A practical checklist for the waiting period
Confirm admission status and the records used for academic review. Complete relevant separate applications by their deadlines, track person-dependent materials and continue any required financial-aid forms. When an offer arrives, compare annual support, covered charges and renewal terms rather than only the four-year headline.
If updated credentials might change eligibility, ask the university which testing and processing deadlines apply to your entering cohort. Do not assume a general awarding window means every late update is accepted. Sources checked October 29, 2026; 2027 application dates are verified, while new nonresident award amounts remain unconfirmed here. Use the comparison guide for the final package.
