Deadline
UNT admissions lists March 1 as the fall UNT Excellence Scholarship priority date, but the admissions table does not identify the calendar year. The detailed Excellence page still dates March 1, 2026 for fall 2026. Confirm the fall 2027 cutoff before relying on it.
How to apply
Automatic with admission; no separate application.
What you'll need
  • No separate application: you are considered when you apply for admission
Who can apply
First-time freshmen pursuing a first bachelor's degree and enrolling full-time in the fall immediately after high-school graduation. Excellence uses unweighted GPA and transcript class rank at admission; without a rank, the academic record is reviewed. Applicants without an accredited high-school transcript must provide ACT/SAT for either Excellence or Achievement consideration. International and non-Texas residents can qualify.
Good to know
The published table applies to fall 2026, with admission and transcripts due March 1, 2026, acceptance May 1, 2026 and bonus test scores July 1, 2026. Awards are competitive and funding limited. Renew up to eight semesters with continuous enrollment in at least 12 UNT credits each fall/spring, 3.0 cumulative UNT GPA and 24 UNT credits earned each academic year. Non-residents may qualify for a competitive tuition waiver subject to Selective Service requirements; it does not waive the out-of-state teaching fee for students living outside Texas.
