- New applicants: legal residents of the 50 US states or DC located there, or dependent children of active-duty US military; ages 16-26; pursuing or planning accredited postsecondary education. Financial need is considered. Returning scholars have separate renewal rules.
- Good to know
- The FAQ links formal terms for the 2025-2026 cycle. Those terms prohibit generative AI, ghostwriting and substantive third-party editing; confirm final 2027 terms before preparing an entry. Returning scholars must reapply with an invitation code and may receive up to three renewals; renewal amounts can change.
