Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship

Merit + needScholarship

Financial need is part of how this award is decided, alongside merit.

Award
Published program: up to $10,000 per year, up to $40,000 total, based on unmet need after the college aid package, plus a paid Amazon internship opportunity. Renew up to three further years or a bachelor's degree, with full-time enrollment, good academic standing and continued eligibility. Upcoming-cycle information is tentative.
Deadline
The 2025-26 application is closed. Scholarship America lists the next Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship as opening in December 2026, but has not announced an exact opening date or closing date. The administrator’s old-cycle page has conflicting January 22 and January 26, 2026 cutoffs; neither is a 2027 deadline.
How to apply
Sign up for opening reminders. Prior published requirements include an online recommendation, transcript, short responses and the first two pages of the most recent household IRS 1040, with sensitive identifiers redacted. Selected recipients provide the college aid award letter. A timed Amazon assessment can substitute for the computer-science course. The next-cycle application is not published.
What you'll need
  • A separate scholarship application
  • Recommendations
  • A short essay or statement
Who can apply
Published/tentative guidance: U.S. high school senior, cumulative GPA at least 2.3/4.0 or equivalent, financial need, and U.S. work authorization valid for at least two years. Complete or take a computer-science course, or take the alternative assessment; pursue an eligible computing-related bachelor's degree through a four-year college or a two-year-to-four-year transfer route. Next-cycle final criteria are unpublished.
Good to know
The administrator explicitly labels upcoming information tentative. Eligible majors include mathematics/applied mathematics, data science, electrical engineering and other listed computing fields as well as computer science. Awards cover education-related cost-of-attendance expenses after other aid; they are not a guaranteed $40,000. Current renewal guidance describes good standing, typically 2.0 GPA or better, rather than a universal guaranteed threshold.
