SEG Scholarships

ListedScholarship
Award
$500 to $10,000 per academic year. Renewal is competitive, requires annual reapplication with two faculty recommendations and qualifying SEG participation, and is limited to six total award years.
Deadline
The next application opens November 1, 2026. The page lists March 1 as the annual closing date but does not explicitly name the next closing year.
How to apply
Create a separate SEG scholarship account in Grantinterface and submit one application for all eligible SEG scholarships. SEG policy requires two faculty recommendation forms and transcripts; supporting documents are due by March 15 each year. Awardees must provide official transcripts if unofficial copies were used.
Who can apply
High school seniors planning college the following year, and undergraduate or graduate students, with above-average grades and a curriculum leading toward applied geophysics. Students worldwide may apply; individual awards restrict citizenship, residency, specialty, university or veteran status. The policy manual also requires applications to be supported by participation in SEG activities such as membership, student-chapter or committee involvement; confirm the new form’s implementation.
Good to know
This is a collection of donor awards with different restrictions released annually. Awardees must provide official transcripts, a donor appreciation letter, semester transcripts and a first-semester progress report. Common annual application and supporting-document deadlines are published, but the dated 2027 closing notice and next donor list remain unconfirmed.
