How to apply
Submit the online application and one recommendation letter plus an official or unofficial school transcript by the same deadline. Complete four required essays up to 250 words each and one required community-service essay up to 400 words; an additional 250-word personal essay is optional. Multiple category applications are allowed; only one recommendation can be uploaded. Recommenders/schools can upload documents through the portal link, with no mail/email submission. Submitted category applications cannot be edited, but can be deleted/replaced before the deadline.

Who can apply
High school/homeschool students graduating spring 2027, living in the U.S./territories, with at least 3.0 unweighted GPA on a 4.0 scale (or 7.5/10), entering an accredited higher education institution in 2027-28. FAQ also allows GED applicants under age 21. Current published eligibility does not state a Hispanic-heritage requirement. Virtual category ceremony attendance is mandatory; national recipients also attend the in-person ceremony.
Good to know
Current portal/FAQ categories are Community Service, Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Green, with additions possible. Applying automatically includes consideration for Haz La U. Grants can support college education or a community-service effort. The deadline uses the sponsor's exact PST label; do not substitute a different zone.
