NFSF Construction Trades Scholarship

Merit + needScholarship

Financial need is part of how this award is decided, alongside merit.

Award
Awards start at $2000; donors may provide larger awards in $500 increments. The older revised October 2024 form says renewal is not automatic and subsequent awards depend on need, continued construction interest, enrollment and good standing; current renewal terms are unconfirmed.
Deadline
Applications accepted September through March 6 of the next year for the following academic year; exact 2027 date not separately posted
How to apply
Register and submit the online construction-trades application and all attachments as FINAL at nfsf.nawic.org. Transcripts may be required. The revised October 2024 PDF required course description/cost, financial-need statement, activities, work history and essays, but its email submission instructions and February 28 deadline differ from the current portal; confirm current materials in the portal.
What you'll need
  • A separate scholarship application
Who can apply
Students currently enrolled in a U.S. construction-related training program approved by the Bureau of Apprenticeship Training, a community college, technical school or equivalent, pursuing a construction craft or trade. High school seniors may apply if they meet those training requirements. Additional donor location or school criteria may apply; no trades GPA minimum is stated.
Good to know
The portal currently displays February 6-March 6, 2026 and an undated recurring March 6 deadline; 2027 dates are not confirmed. The separate undergraduate award ordinarily excludes seniors but expressly allows seniors already matriculated in college courses with proof. Financial need and essays appear in the historical trades form, while complete current attachments require portal access.
