DirectoryScholarship
This is a group of awards reached through one application. Each award inside it has its own rules.
- Award
- $2,000 to $6,000 by award (e.g., White House Correspondents' Association $6,000; Lori Montenegro, Cecilia Alvear, Dunia Elvir $5,000; Maria Elena Salinas $2,500; Ruben Salazar $2,000)
- Deadline
- Next cycle dates not yet posted; the last posted deadline was December 28, 2025.
- How to apply
- The currently posted 2026 instructions require a one-page resume, two non-relative references, unofficial transcripts from each institution, an essay of up to 500 words and up to three work samples. Some awards require an additional career-specific essay; Spanish-language Salinas applicants write in Spanish. The linked MemberClicks form does not expose a new-cycle application.
- What you'll need
- A separate scholarship application
- Who can apply
- The currently posted instructions include college-bound seniors, undergraduates and graduate students at U.S./Puerto Rico four-year or community colleges pursuing journalism. The same page conflicts between a 2.8 minimum in the overview/transcript section and 3.0 in eligibility. Award-specific interests and membership requirements differ, including student membership for Dunia Elvir.
- Good to know
- Posted award cards show $2000-$6000, generally paid to the institution for tuition, room/board or books across fall and spring. Rubén Salazar also offers a sponsored 2026 conference trip instead of scholarship dollars. Duration and renewal are not specified; the page still gives December 28, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. PST. The next cycle is unconfirmed.
