Transportation YOU High School Scholarship
DirectoryScholarship
This is a group of awards reached through one application. Each award inside it has its own rules.
- Award
- WTS Foundation Transportation YOU award: $2500. Local amounts vary: New Jersey’s 2026 application says $2500; Greater Chicago’s 2026-27 application says $1000 while its chapter page says $2000. Confirm Chicago’s local amount. Renewal conditions vary or are unstated.
- Deadline
- Apply by the applicable chapter deadline; chapter winners are nominated for the WTS Foundation award. Greater Chicago’s 2026-27 form requires receipt by November 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, with Foundation awards in May 2027. New Jersey’s fall-senior deadline was September 18, 2026. Other 2027 chapter dates vary or are unpublished.
- How to apply
- Apply through an eligible WTS chapter, then chapter winners are nominated to the Foundation. Chicago’s 2026-27 form requires signed application/guardian signature if underage, official transcript, one recommendation sent directly on letterhead, a 200-500 word statement of interest and personal statement up to 500 words; resume is optional. Chicago public-school students use CPS Academic Works; other applicants follow the chapter instructions, which conflict on email versus mailed complete packages. New Jersey’s 2026 form required transcript, resume, recommendation and personal statement.
- What you'll need
- A separate scholarship application
- Recommendations
- An essay
- Who can apply
- Girls studying STEM in high school and considering transportation careers; specific chapters set location, senior status and GPA requirements. Chicago’s 2026-27 form requires Chicagoland high school seniors with at least 3.0 GPA and expressly permits international students and Dreamers. New Jersey’s 2026 form requires fall 2026 seniors and weighted GPA 3.0. These are chapter-specific rules.
- Good to know
- Current chapter deadlines can cover fall 2026 seniors graduating in 2027. Chicago’s actual six-page 2026-27 application has a different award amount from the chapter page and inconsistent non-CPS submission guidance. Chicago prior winners may apply for other scholarships but cannot repeat the same award; other chapters’ renewal rules are not published. WTS’s open 2027 Strategic Partner program is a separate program.
