- Who can apply
- Unmarried military dependent children under 23 with valid USID benefits-number eligibility, whose sponsor is active duty, Reserve/Guard, retired or deceased in the six listed U.S. services. Enroll full-time in a bachelor’s program or community/junior-college program transferring directly to four-year study. Minimum unweighted GPA: 3.0 for high school applicants, 2.5 for college applicants. The older FAQ excludes terminal associate, second undergraduate and graduate degrees, service academies/preparatory schools and full scholarships; confirm these restrictions for 2027-28.

- The current specific page confirms 500 individual $2000 awards for 2027-28 and December 2026 opening, with at least one qualified recipient per commissary. The closing date and new essay topic are unpublished. Older FAQ still references fall 2024 and gives maximum four years with case-by-case exceptions; current repeat-award and deferral rules are unconfirmed.
