- How to apply
- The 2027 package is not yet posted. The 2026 eight-page package required a printed fillable PDF sent by USPS, official transcript, a 300-400 word essay, two non-relative recommendations, resume, autobiography, qualifying recipient biography and Purple Heart proof, school acceptance letter, signed media consent, photo and nonrefundable $25 check/money-order processing fee. Email, fax, UPS and FedEx were not accepted for that cycle.

- Who can apply
- Current program serves Purple Heart recipients and qualifying spouses/children/grandchildren, excluding great-grandchildren. The prior 2026 package also allowed step/adopted children and step-grandchildren, widows/widowers or descendants of killed-in-action/combat-wound casualties, and required full-time 12-credit study at accredited U.S. college/vocational school. Graduate students and holders of a completed bachelor’s seeking another bachelor’s were excluded; associate-to-bachelor’s transfers were eligible. Confirm the new package.

- The 2026 package permitted one scholarship per applicant for tuition, books, direct fees, room/board and other direct education costs, excluding transportation, pre-existing loans and special research/program costs. Award amount varies with funding and is not published for 2027-28. Next-cycle fee, essay prompt and detailed conditions are unconfirmed.
