Coast Guard Foundation Scholarships for Coast Guard Children

Merit + needScholarship

Financial need is part of how this award is decided, alongside merit.

Award
The 2026 announcement offers annual $2500 or $5000 awards paid to the institution for tuition, room/board, fees, books and necessary education costs. Students may reapply for up to four years while eligible; precise continuing requirements and 2027 amounts are unconfirmed.
Deadline
2027 dates not yet posted; the 2026 season ran February 1 to April 1, 2026.
How to apply
Apply through the official CommunityForce portal when the children’s scholarship reopens. The 2026 announcement required a FAFSA report and sections completed by the Coast Guard sponsor and guidance counselor. The current portal lists spouse and Fallen Heroes programs but does not expose the next regular children’s application.
What you'll need
  • A separate scholarship application
Who can apply
High school seniors and college students who are dependents of active-duty Coast Guard members, reservists on active duty for at least 180 days, or retired Coast Guard members, attending college, trade school or technical programs.
Good to know
The regular award considers academic achievement, leadership and community involvement; need affects award level. Currently displayed dates are February 1-April 1, 2026. The separate Fallen Heroes program covers different family circumstances and is not a blanket full-cost promise for this listing.
