JWV National Youth Achievement Program Scholarships
DirectoryScholarship
This is a group of awards reached through one application. Each award inside it has its own rules.
- Award
- Edith, Louis, and Max S. Millen Memorial Academic Award $2,000; Millen Memorial Athletic Award $2,000; Clifford Lee Kristal Education Award $1,250; Bernard Rotberg Memorial Award $1,000; Leon Brooks Memorial Award $1,000
- Deadline
- Application period currently closed; 2027 deadline not yet posted. Recipients are chosen at the late-August National Convention and announced in September.
- How to apply
- The current cycle is closed. The historical 2025 Youth Achievement form required applicant/relative signatures, acceptance letter, detailed resume and sealed official transcript, and specifically prohibited essays/recommendations or other extras. It required the related member’s Department Commander to verify eligibility and forward up to three applications; direct national submissions were limited to specified at-large categories. Millen Athletic used a separate application. Confirm the next-cycle award-specific forms.
- What you'll need
- A separate scholarship application
- Membership in the sponsoring organization
- Who can apply
- Currently posted general rules require senior direct descendants of JWV members who joined before 2023 and freshman entry at an accredited college, university, community college or nursing school in the graduation fall. The 2025 specific form additionally required member good standing since 2022, including at death if deceased, excluded honorary members/Patrons, and permitted trade-school entry. Confirm new-cycle and separate Millen award rules.
- Good to know
- Current page lists the five named awards at $1000, $1250 or $2000, but still announces August 2026/September selection and no 2027 deadline. Individual duration, renewal and complete next-cycle Millen Academic/Athletic rules are unpublished. The historical Youth Achievement form’s end-of-May departmental deadline preceded July 1 national forwarding; do not treat those as 2027 dates.
