Up to $18,000 per academic year for tuition, mandatory fees and books, or $25,000 for STEM, plus competitive year-round salary and summer employment. Support depends on continued academic and work eligibility.

How to apply
CIA is not accepting summer 2027 applications. Published documentation includes the completed scholarship application, citizenship proof, resume, previous-year U.S. Form 1040 and unofficial transcript; current seniors also provide a four-year college acceptance letter. The reopened application and its complete instructions must be checked when available.

Who can apply
U.S. citizens at least 18 at submission, including current high school seniors accepted to a four-year college, enrolled full time, with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and household AGI up to $120,000 (dependents) or $50,000 (independent).
Good to know
Need is required: household AGI at most $120,000 for prior-year dependents or $50,000 otherwise. Scholars must work at least 12 weeks each summer at 40 hours weekly in the Washington metro area, remain full-time at 12 undergraduate credits, maintain a 3.0 GPA and aligned major, send transcripts within 30 days after each semester, and meet work/conduct and security requirements. Funding begins after the work tour starts and documentation is updated. Post-graduation service is 1.5 years per funded year, with tuition repayment if service ends early.
