USDA 1890 National Scholars Program
UnconfirmedScholarship
This is a real program, but some details for the current cycle are not published or not yet confirmed. Check the official source before you plan around it.
- Award
- The published applicant guide describes full tuition, fees, books, room and board, employment and benefits for up to four years. Current cycle-specific continuation and service-agreement terms need confirmation.
- Deadline
- A reliable 2027 deadline is not published in the accessible official sources. The main program page blocked access during this review.
- How to apply
- The official online guide uses a USDA/Login.gov account and separate high school or college applications. It describes an official transcript, scores for high school applicants, a 500–800-word essay, counselor assessment and recommendation submissions. Complete the final submission after external materials arrive; the full new-cycle form is not publicly available.
- What you'll need
- A separate scholarship application
- Who can apply
- The accessible undated guide requires U.S. citizenship, a 3.0 cumulative unweighted GPA, agriculture/food/natural-resource or related study, leadership/service and an application to an 1890 land-grant university. High school applicants need 1080 SAT or 21 ACT without ACT superscoring; enrolled college applicants have a separate route. These requirements need confirmation against the new cycle.
- Good to know
- The 23-page official online applicant guide was read. It gives a 500–800-word essay, replacing the unsupported two 250–500-word essays in this listing. The National Finance Center overview is explicitly last reviewed in July 2024; it describes annual renewal for satisfactory performance and degree progress. The older public high school PDF is explicitly 2019 and is not a current form. Current service and renewal terms remain unconfirmed.
