DU National Scholarship Program
ListedScholarship
- Award
- One-time individual awards of $500 for 50 Varsity recipients, $1,000 for 10 Conservation recipients and $10,000 for one National recipient.
- Deadline
- Applications open October 15, 2026 and close March 1, 2027. The official one-page 2027 program sheet does not state a closing time.
- How to apply
- The 2027 program sheet requires an online application, DU member ID, at least one and up to three recommendations in PDF, awards and leadership/service resume in PDF, and an essay of at most 500 words in PDF answering: How have your outdoor experiences contributed to your understanding of the importance of wetlands, and how have you acted or intend to act on this knowledge?. The main page also requires a high school transcript and DU volunteer history. The full application is not exposed before reopening.
- What you'll need
- A separate scholarship application
- Recommendations
- An essay
- Membership in the sponsoring organization
- Who can apply
- Graduating high school seniors in 2027 who are DU members and have at least a 2.8 weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale. The official program sheet also says enrollment begins in fall 2026, which conflicts with 2027 graduation; confirm the intended entry term before applying.
- Good to know
- The linked April 2026 program sheet explicitly gives March 1, 2027 and weighted GPA, plus a minimum of one recommendation. Awards go directly to the student’s eligible college, university or trade/vocational school. Membership is required; DU volunteer and conservation involvement receives heavy selection weight. The enrollment-year inconsistency requires sponsor clarification.
