Zell Miller Scholarship
ListedScholarship
- Award
- Institution-specific undergraduate tuition award for up to 15 credit hours per term at eligible Georgia public institutions; private-institution amounts based on half/full-time attendance, up to 12 hours. Normally ends at a bachelor degree, 127 attempted/combined-paid semester hours (190 quarter), or ten years after high-school completion for new recipients. Renewal requires 3.3 calculated college HOPE GPA at specified checkpoints and satisfactory academic progress. Current linked amount table covers 2026-27; fall 2027 rates require confirmation.
- Deadline
- Apply by the last day of the school term or withdrawal date, whichever occurs first. College-specific additional application/deadline requirements may apply. Apply early; there is no single statewide calendar date.
- How to apply
- Complete FAFSA annually or online Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP), plus any college-specific steps. Georgia accredited schools electronically report transcripts/rigor data; out-of-state or nonaccredited/home-study routes need official manual-evaluation documents and qualifying test reporting where applicable. Monitor GAfutures eligibility and college financial-aid office.
- What you'll need
- No separate application: you are considered when you apply for admission
- Who can apply
- Georgia resident under institution rules (normally 12 months if resident at high-school completion, otherwise a 24-month route; dependent/private-school rules differ), U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, undergraduate degree student at eligible Georgia institution. Meet applicable Selective Service, loan/refund good-standing, drug-free and satisfactory-progress rules. Standard accredited high-school/home-study route: 3.7 calculated HOPE GPA, four rigor credits and single-administration SAT 1200 or current ACT equivalent 25 before graduation. Named valedictorian/salutatorian route uses 3.0 HOPE GPA and four rigor credits. Ineligible-school/unaccredited-home-study route may qualify by ACT 29 or SAT 1340 before completion; a separately described retroactive route uses earlier qualifying test scores and 3.3 college HOPE GPA at 30 semester/45 quarter hours. ACT equivalence is reviewed annually; check the 2027 posting.
- Good to know
- Calculated HOPE GPA differs from school GPA: school weighting removed, limited 0.5 AP/IB/degree-level dual-enrolment weighting restored below A; honors not weighted, no rounding, with approved advanced fine arts counted starting class of 2027. Alternate routes prevent a universal high-school GPA filter. One regain opportunity at an attempted-hours checkpoint; military/disability time-limit extensions may apply. Private colleges require at least six credits; public institutions have no minimum credit load.
