- Up to $7,500 total: $1,500 annually first three years, $3,000 fourth year, paid half each fall/spring. Up to eight consecutive fall/spring terms or first bachelor, whichever first. Renewal requires cumulative college GPA 3.00 (checked after second term then every term), persistence and 30/60/90 earned credits before sophomore/junior/senior payments. One GPA reinstatement possible; lost time not extended.

- How to apply
- Complete SD Opportunity Scholarship Application in SDBOR Scholarship Portal, using public-university email if already dual-enrolled/enrolled, otherwise create manual account. Same application covers new and transfer students. Current handout says high-school transcript verified through admissions, with no additional transcript submission. Ensure official scores and class-of-2027 curriculum/endorsement are reflected in institutional review; homeschool transcript has separate legal requirements. No annual reapplication normally.

- Who can apply
- South Dakota resident at high-school graduation; enter eligible SD institution within five years, or qualifying military-release extension. Option 1: ACT composite/superscore 24+ or SAT 1180+, 3.00 unweighted GPA and Advanced Honors Endorsement/approved curriculum with final grades C+. Class of 2027 requires specific subject subcategories. Option 2: ACT 28+ with English 18, reading 21, math 22 and science 24 subscores, or Board of Regents SAT equivalent 1310+; no GPA/curriculum requirement. Law and official 2027 guide specify ACT subscores even though overview/handout omit them. Tests before college; separate alternative-instruction route.

- Only participating South Dakota institutions. Class-of-2027 curriculum: four English, four maths through advanced maths, four science (three labs), three social studies, two same-language/approved CTE combined units, fine arts, economics/personal finance, PE and health, with specific subcategories. Each course satisfies one subcategory; approved equivalent dual credit possible. Out-of-state college return within two years can receive partial award if initial and continuing standards met while away. Remedial/repeated credits do not satisfy benchmarks. No obligation to live/work in South Dakota after graduation.
