Award
Level 1 up to $7,000 per year, Level 2 up to $5,250, Level 3 up to $3,500; up to $28,000 total, usable for up to eight full-time semester equivalents within eight years of high-school graduation. Half-time awards are prorated.
Deadline
Recurring policy: FAFSA or APS Alternative Application priority deadline June 30 before the academic year of use. Private/homeschool eligibility form and supporting records due July 15 for the upcoming award year. Qualifying tests must be before June 30 of graduation year. Notify the institution before its enrollment-certification deadline. No separate 2027 calendar or timezone is claimed.
How to apply
Complete FAFSA annually naming eligible Alaska institution, or APS Alternative Application for non-Title IV institution. Students without SSN may submit alternative to ACPE even for Title IV school, identifying institution/student ID. School reports final eligibility; create student-owned ASAP account to monitor. Independently homeschooled/private students also submit signed Eligibility Determination Application, curriculum checklist, official transcript/proof coursework and optional official test report for higher level.
Who can apply
Alaska resident (physically present at least 30 days with intent to remain indefinitely) graduating from Alaska public/private/homeschool diploma programme, not GED or out-of-state high school. Complete approved rigorous curriculum option AND either GPA or score: Level 1 GPA 3.50 OR ACT 25/SAT 1210/WorkKeys 18 (each 6+); Level 2 GPA 3.00 OR 23/1130/15 (each 5+); Level 3 GPA 2.50 OR 21/1060/12 (each 4+). Current rules apply Class of 2024 onward; earlier graduates differ. Eligible degree/certificate and half-time minimum; other non-loan aid must leave at least $500 qualifying cost.
Good to know
Annual maxima $7,000/$5,250/$3,500; up to eight full-time semester equivalents within eight years after graduation, paid to participating Alaska provider. Covers eligible remaining attendance costs, not necessarily full amount; part-time prorated. Renew institutional progress and cumulative college GPA 2.50, first-year earned credits 24 full time/12 half time, later 30/15; graduate/credit-certificate and clock-hour routes have separate standards. Step-Up may increase tier after specified consecutive 15-credit semesters/10-credit quarters or qualifying certificates and college GPA. No SAI need test, but other non-loan aid reduces unmet costs.
