John and Abigail Adams Scholarship
ListedScholarship
- Award
- Credit toward required tuition for state-supported undergraduate courses, excluding fees/room/board; maximum eight nonsummer semesters within six years after high-school graduation. Campus-specific 2027-28 amounts are not confirmed. Programme overview lists UMass dollar credits, while August 2026 guideline excludes institutions retaining resident tuition, so confirm eligible-campus coverage with financial-aid office.
- Deadline
- No scholarship application; eligible students notified in fall of senior year. Submit eligibility letter and annual FAFSA or MASFA to college under institutional financial-aid deadlines. No separate statewide 2027 scholarship deadline published.
- How to apply
- State identifies qualifying first-time MCAS scores and sends eligibility letters through school/district. Provide letter/documentation to accepted eligible Massachusetts public college, complete FAFSA annually or MASFA if FAFSA-ineligible, and fulfil aid verification. No separate merit scholarship application; transfer activation needs prior cumulative college GPA 3.00.
- What you'll need
- No separate application: you are considered when you apply for admission
- Who can apply
- Graduate from/under auspices of Massachusetts public high school, not GED, with first-attempt next-generation MCAS ELA/math/science total in district top 25%. One subject at Advanced-equivalent minimum (ELA 501, maths 504, science 522), other two Proficient-equivalent (ELA 472, maths 486, science 491). Massachusetts physical residency one year before enrolled term plus U.S. citizen/PR/Title IV eligible noncitizen, or approved tuition-equity status. Accepted full-time 12+ credit state-supported undergraduate programme, no prior bachelor, no aid default/refund, institutional progress.
- Good to know
- Non-need merit award, though annual FAFSA/MASFA required. Renewal cumulative GPA 3.00 checked each spring; falling below permanently forfeits scholarship under current guideline. Cannot combine other tuition credits. Current 2026-27 guideline and public overview differ on eligible campus/value scope; 2027-28 terms need confirmation. Retroactive credit only within academic year eligibility is documented, not prior fiscal years.
