Kansas State Scholarship

Merit + needScholarship

Financial need is part of how this award is decided, alongside merit.

Award
Published 2026-27 funding guidance: up to $1,000 annually ($500 per semester), based on financial need and available funds. Up to four undergraduate years, or five for an approved five-year degree. The 2027-28 funding terms are not confirmed.
Deadline
Priority deadline July 1, displayed without a year. School reports scholar designation after seventh-semester grades, generally February-April; ACT by December of senior year. Confirm the 2027 application dates with KBOR.
How to apply
Complete Kansas Scholars Curriculum and obtain school-certified Kansas State Scholar designation using ACT and seventh-semester GPA index. File FAFSA and State of Kansas Student Aid Application annually, using personal email; upload requested supporting materials. Schools report curriculum completion and academic information; students receive designation notice. Renew through the state aid account.
What you'll need
  • A separate scholarship application
  • Required financial-aid forms (check the program's rules)
Who can apply
Kansas State Scholar designation and financial need required. Current cohort document names seniors graduating in 2026-27, but is labeled 2026-27 funding guidance; confirm fall 2027 terms. General state rules require Kansas residency for one year before college, eligible Kansas college/program, first undergraduate degree, permanent legal U.S. residence/valid SSN and ability to file FAFSA. No universal high-school GPA minimum.
Good to know
Renewal guidance requires 3.0 college GPA and at least 12 credits per semester; financial need and outside scholarships affect awards. Document’s aid-year/cohort labels do not establish 2027-28 funding. Designation uses ACT/GPA ranking, not a guaranteed award for every curriculum completer.
