Hagan Scholarship

Merit + needScholarship

Financial need is part of how this award is decided, alongside merit.

Award
Up to $7,500 per semester for eight consecutive undergraduate semesters ($60,000 maximum), calculated after other aid and half the FAFSA SAI. The brochure also lists $1,000 first-year college essentials through a personal brokerage account; international students are not required to open that account.
Deadline
Fall application available September 1, 2026, due December 1, 2026. Spring application available January 15, 2027, due March 15, 2027.
How to apply
Create a username and password on the online application portal and apply once (applicants may apply one time only). Submit a high school transcript and a letter of recommendation. Finalists provide a FAFSA Summary (US citizens) or citizenship documentation.

  • Recommendations
  • A finalist round or selection weekend
Who can apply
Class of 2027 at a U.S. high school, regardless of nationality/citizenship; at least 3.50 unweighted cumulative GPA and parents’ 2025 adjusted gross household income no more than $125,000. Must enroll at an eligible four-year college the first fall after high school and maintain a four-year graduation schedule. Community/junior colleges and online institutions are excluded. Apply for federal/state grants if eligible. Complete 240 paid, supervised non-family work hours January 1 through September 1, 2027 for the first fall disbursement. Homeschooled students are ineligible.
Good to know
Need-based merit award. Renewal requires 3.0 GPA each semester and 3.25 cumulative GPA after the first semester; disbursement requires 14 fall and 30 combined fall/spring GPA credits, while retaining the award requires 12 fall and 28 annual GPA credits. At least half the credits must be on-campus or hybrid. Annual 240-hour paid non-family work and mandatory workshops/submittals apply. First-year work shortfall prevents fall payment without forfeiting the whole award; later work shortfall forfeits it. Cannot combine with another last-dollar scholarship. Account balances managed for HSF are not cash awards. The dated 2027-28 brochure and current-cycle Q&A list $1,000 for first-year essentials; an undated overview still contains a conflicting $2,000 line.
