DirectoryScholarship
This is a group of awards reached through one application. Each award inside it has its own rules.
- Award
- Individual award amounts, duration and renewal vary by donor fund; the foundation generally provides partial educational support.
- Timeline
- May 1Deadlines vary by fund. Most statewide funds list
- Mar 15Some list or April 15. The page does not state the year, so confirm for 2027.
- How to apply
- Find eligible fund descriptions and follow each application route. The online system uses an eligibility quiz and common information with fund-specific questions; some awards use downloaded forms, school offices or institutional selection. Required transcripts, recommendations, financial information and essays vary. MaineCF waives FAFSA for students unable to file because of immigration/visa status.
- Who can apply
- Most funds support Maine residents, with school, field, location, year-level or other donor restrictions. Some funds serve nonresidents studying in Maine. MaineCF encourages applicants regardless of citizenship/immigration status and weighs academic performance, need, extracurricular activities and work experience.
- Good to know
- Read each fund’s description. Current statewide listings show yearless May 1 and other deadlines; the FAQ says online submissions are due 11:59 p.m. on the fund deadline and paper materials must be postmarked, without stating a time zone. Specific 2027 terms are not confirmed. Renewable awards and institutional awards do not share one common set of rules. MaineCF requires awardees to return the Terms of Award letter by the stated date, typically September 1; most payments go directly to the college in early December for second-semester costs.
