TGKVF scholarships

This is a group of awards reached through one application. Each award inside it has its own rules.

Award

Individual scholarships range $1,000-$12,000, average approximately $3,000. Renewal is fund-specific and competitive; follow-up renewal form required, no automatic continuation.

Deadline

2027-28 application dates not yet posted; the 2026-27 deadline has passed.

How to apply

Create TGKVF scholarship portal account and follow application/matched-fund instructions. Check personal email for May decisions and acceptance/follow-up forms. Renew eligible award through competitive follow-up form in portal; no IRS tax forms required for application.

Who can apply

West Virginia residents statewide, high school seniors and up, attending in-state or out-of-state two-year, four-year, vocational or graduate programs; homeschool students eligible. Individual funds have their own residency, school, major, merit and need rules.

Good to know

Normally one TGKVF award, with Scholars Fund stacking and supplemental Thalheimer Fund exceptions. Payments directly to institution for direct educational expenses; unused funding refunded if withdrawing. Notify Foundation and original institution on transfer; funds reroute after return. More than 115 donor funds; over 500 recipients is aggregate.
