- 2026–27 cycle: $5,000 toward tuition, paid directly to the Iowa institution after enrollment confirmation. The 2027–28 award has not yet been published.
- Deadline
- 2027 deadline not yet posted; the 2026 deadline was April 1, 2026 at 11:59 PM, with finalist interviews on or about April 23, 2026.
- How to apply
- Prior 2026 guidelines required a SlideRoom application, artistic-vision/career essay, one teacher or equivalent professional recommendation, and three to five work samples in the intended field. Top applicants had a mandatory 15-minute interview. The full 2027 application is not yet available.

- Who can apply
- Prior 2026 rules required Iowa residency, graduation from an Iowa high school in 2025–26, demonstrated artistic ability, and acceptance as a full-time undergraduate at an accredited Iowa institution in music, dance, visual arts, theatre, folklife or literature. Immediate family/dependents of specified agency/arts-council board members or staff were excluded. The 2027 rules have not yet been published.
- Good to know
- The prior guidelines limit reviewed written samples to five pages and audio/video to three minutes, with discipline-specific format rules. The September 16, 2026 rulemaking notice proposes updated program rules; it is a proposal, not a confirmed 2027 application cycle or adopted eligibility rule.
