TILF Scholarships for UIL State Meet Competitors
DirectoryScholarship
This is a group of awards reached through one application. Each award inside it has its own rules.
- Award
- Individual donor awards vary; the directory includes $500 one-year awards and awards totaling up to $20,000 across four years. Duration, payment schedule and renewal GPA vary by donor.
- Deadline
- 2027 application available March 1 through May 21, 2027. All supporting items must be submitted by May 21, 2027; no time zone or clock time is stated.
- How to apply
- Complete the 2027 TILF common application, available March 1-May 21, 2027. Upload high-school transcript with SAT/ACT scores if taken (no scores if not tested), a recommendation from an eligible school administrator, parents’/guardian’s most recent IRS Form 1040 pages 1-2 or an explanatory letter, and the college aid letter or FAFSA Submission Summary with SAI. Red Oak and Moorad applicants provide additional statements. Donor-specific awards can require extra criteria.
- What you'll need
- Recommendations
- Who can apply
- Graduating seniors with qualifying UIL academic state participation; specified essay/film finalists, second-day Cross-Examination Debate competitors, and top-10 teams per group in BEST/FIRST/RECF-VEX state robotics also qualify. Athletics/music alone do not qualify. Attend an accredited Texas college full time; general continuing college GPA is 2.5, with higher donor-specific thresholds. Some awards restrict college, major, home county, contest or citizenship. Funding is paid directly to the Texas college.
- Good to know
- Scholarship family with donor-specific terms. The 2026-27 FAQ reports more than $1.2 million across nearly 70 colleges as total program funding, not an individual award. Current 2027 application page confirms parents’/guardian’s most recent Form 1040 pages 1-2; redact Social Security and bank routing numbers. If unavailable, provide a parent/guardian explanatory letter. The directory includes a conflicting Roy award total/payment schedule and a Welch award closed to new recipients after 2024; consult donor terms.
